The Spirit of Cardiff has received a much-needed cash boost from Cardiff Harbour Authority. The grant of £50,000 will be made available in monthly payments of £10,000. The money, paid from the Authority's promotional budget, will help Spirit of Cardiff in its tour of the eastern seabord of the United States before making the transatlantic crossing from New York to Gibraltar and Cardiff.

A number of US companies already have a presence in Wales, and the promotional tour will highlight the advantages of investing here. At the same, the Spirit of Cardiff team will be emphasising the attributes of Wales as a major tourist destination.
Cardiff's Lord Mayor and Harbour Authority chairman Russell Goodway felt that it was important to do something quite special to draw the attention of the world to Cardiff, and that the Spirit of Cardiff was just the kind of venture to achieve that.
