After several days in Manhattan, the Spirit of Cardiff has taken a short break for a trip up to Long Island and a lovely little city called Glen Cove, where Mayor Thomas R. Suozzi greeted Alan Priddy, Steve Lloyd and Clive Tully at the Fox Navigation Ferry Terminal. It's here that a new ferry service will link Glen Cove with Manhattan, knocking a considerable time off the average road journey.

It's more than just a ferry service, though. It will be America's fastest ferry, capable of cruising at more than 50mph, so the synergy between that and the fastest boat around the world becomes more apparent. During Mayor Suozzi's three terms of office, he has been instrumental in major redevelopments in Glen Cove, which includes revitalising its waterfront.
Mayor Suozzi presented the Spirit of Cardiff crew with the key to the city, and invited them back to the official opening of the ferry link in May, which they hope to be able to do before setting off on the transatlantic crossing.
