Read all about it!

Now you can read the full story of Spirit of Cardiff's remarkable voyage, not just this year's circumnavigation attempt, but from the start more than three years ago.

"Confronting Poseidon" is more than just a blow by blow account of the voyage around the world. It also covers the background of the project and all the work that went into making it happen - including all the previous world record runs, the efforts to secure sponsorship, and the association with Cardiff.

The book has been written by crew member and award winning travel writer, Clive Tully, who says "Writing this book was nearly as much stress as doing the trip itself. Certainly none of my dozen previous books have taken anywhere near the amount of effort to produce. A lot of the action comes from a daily diary which I wrote separately from the web site update, words committed to my tiny Psion palmtop computer sometimes in horrendous sea conditions, when the boat's motion was violent enough to inflict injuries on us."

So you'll read a lot of what was really going on at the time - without the distraction of keeping sponsors happy, or the necessary bravado of our public face. There's a lot of other material as well, adding up to well over 100,000 words, with 48 pages of colour photographs.

"Confronting Poseidon - Around the world against the odds" is available from Offshore Publishing, price £19.99 plus £2.50 (£4.10 Europe / £5.50 Outside Europe) post and packing. The first thousand copies will be signed by me, along with Alan Priddy and Steve Lloyd. The book may be securely ordered online from the Spirit of Cardiff on line shop. It's in stock now, for immediate dispatch!
