In 2002, Offshore Expeditions will take the record for the fastest circumnavigation of the world by sea

This may sound incredibly optimistic, but we are confident in our ability to produce the result. How can we be so sure? After all there are hundreds of different record attempts every year, and all but a handful end up in failure.

Offshore Expeditions has two key advantages in this record attempt. To start with, we have more experience in this field than anyone else in the world. In addition, by making the round the world record the final part of an ambitious three year record breaking project, when the team sets off around the world on Easter Sunday 2002 we will have made sure that every aspect has been tried and tested over and over again.

Alan Priddy & his crew set off on the London-100-Monaco

The team's previous records have included round Ireland, round Scotland, round Britain and the first RIB crossing of the Bay of Biscay.

In 1997 we crossed the Atlantic from Portsmouth USA to Portsmouth UK via the Arctic Circle. We were very proud to be nominated for the Yachtsman of the Year award for this -- recognition that is very rarely bestowed on power boaters. In 1998 our major event was the London-100-Monaco; 2150 nautical miles in under 100 hours. We completed the course in 99 hours 12 minutes, proving to ourselves that we can keep up the pace of 500 miles a day.

Since then we have been working very building the new boat, and working out our strategy for a successful voyage. With our new base in Cardiff and all the support we are getting, things are looking very good indeed.
