Meet the crew
Spirit of Cardiff will have a crew of four on board for the round the world record, working alternate shifts -- two on, two off.
|
Alan Priddy
Skipper and Project leader

Alan is the driving force behind Spirit of Cardiff. He has led successively more ambitious expeditions, from Round Scotland in 1990 using a 4.5 metre RIB to the Atlantic Challenge in 1997. An engineer by trade, his skills have been put to good use in designing and building Spirit of Cardiff.

|
Steve Lloyd
First mate and logistics

Steve is a veteran of many past adventures with Alan Priddy, and has an essential role in keeping Spirit in tip top shape. In additional to normal watch keeping duties, Steve is responsible for monitoring the fuel consumption under way, and ensuring that the boat is kept balanced.

Clive Tully
Crew member and Media Consultant

Award winning journalist and outdoors/travel writer Clive Tully joined the Spirit of Cardiff crew in 1999. A frequent contributor to the travel pages of national newspapers and specialist outdoors magazines, Clive's role includes telling the story of Spirit's remarkable voyage.

Alan Carter
Crew member and TV cameraman
Deserted en route!

Spirit's newest crew member, Alan has worked in television outside broadcasting for over 25 years. Involved with the project for two years as on shore video cameraman, Alan welcomed the opportunity to become a full member of the crew. Alan is an experienced windsurfer and dinghy sailor with Penarth Yacht Club.

Jan Falkowski
Withdrawn

'Janski' has been part of the crew for the build up to the round the world attempt, as well as working with Alan Priddy on numerous previous expeditions. Unfortunately unexpected extra work commitments at his job as a consultant psychiatrist have left him unable to take part in the main event.
